HAZELNUTS MARKET REPORT

2009 crop : Market increased a bit this week due to more demand both from users and from some Turkish exporters who are covering their April needs (no or little forward coverage this season). This price increase doesn’t show a hazelnut shortage as the offer improved further to the 4% price rise, which shows that hazelnuts are coming out when prices are more attractive.

2010 crop : The weather forecast remains favourable, but there are still 3 to 4 weeks of frost risk ahead. This good forecast should have led to a price decrease; it didn’t take place due to the strengthening of old crop.
