2010 Report on State of Kiwifruit Sector in New Zealand


Report Highlights:


New Zealand kiwifruit production fell to an estimated 380,000 tons in 2009, down 4% from the previous year. The drop in production translated into a 4.2% decline in exports to 361,066 tons.


Production in 2010 is forecast to at 379,000 tons. A cold spring and extended drought in the main producing regions are expected to negatively impact on yields. Exports are forecast to be down marginally at 360,000 tons.
