Poland: export of frozen strawberries

According to the Polish Analytical Centre of Customs Administration (CAAC) in the period between January and April 2009 Poland exported 32 thousand t of frozen strawberries i.e. by 35 % more than in the same period 2008.

However the value of export was higher only by 5 % and amounted to 36 million euro. It was caused by the considerable decrease in the export price of frozen strawberries. Through the first four months of this year the average export price of frozen strawberries was 1.13 euro/kg, while last year it was 1.45 euro/kg. Germany – the biggest recipient of Polish frozen strawberries imported 14.3 thousand t, i.e. 45 % of total export.
