Honduras maintains estimate for 09/10 coffee exports

Honduras still expects 2009/10 coffee exports to rise to 3.53 million 60-kg bags from 3.02 million bags shipped in the previous cycle, helped by good weather, the national coffee institute said on Tuesday.

The estimate was made earlier this year. The 2008/09 crop was smaller because of heavy rains and increased smuggling of Honduran beans into Guatemala where they fetched higher prices, Mario Ordonez, the institute’s technical director told Reuters.
