Agrumes : marchés et échanges mondiaux (rapport USDA 2010)
Global Orange Production Nearly Unchanged While Trade Grows
Global production and trade is estimated at 52.2 million metric ton (MMT) and 3.8 MMT, respectively. The US orange production is forecast to drop 11 percent due to poor growing conditions in Florida during 2009.
However, production is forecast up 13 percent in California where the majority of US fresh orange exports are grown. US orange trade is forecast to rise in response to strong demand from Canada and Korea and larger exportable supplies. South African exports are expected to grow due to continued demand from Russia and the Middle East.
Global Orange Juice Production and Trade Decline
Global production is forecast 4 percent lower to 2.2 MMT. Exports are expected to ease around 2 percent due to reduced EU demand. US exports decline as orange juice production is expected to dwindle with less fruit available to process.
The majority of US production comes from Florida. Brazil’s exports remain steady, while production is forecast to grow 4 percent as more fruit is expected to be available for processing if good growing conditions continue.
