DJ Kenyan Coffee Prices Up at Auction on Good Quality
Kenya coffee prices rose at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange weekly auction from the previous auction on better quality, an official said Tuesday. « The was a big improvement in the average price, » Daniel Mbithi, Kenya Coffee Producers’ and Traders Association, which runs the auction, spokesman said.
« There was one supplier who supplied good quality coffee. » Mbithi said much of the coffee offered is of miscellaneous quality as the auction is at the end of the season. A total of 18,922 50-kilogram bags were sold, compared with 16,070 bags sold at the previous auction.
A total of 24,829 bags were offered, compared with 32,725 bags offered at the previous auction. The average price at the auction rose to $161.75 a bag from $143.96 at the previous auction.
