DJ Vietnam Coffee Assoc Cuts 2008-09 Output Estimate To 16M Bags

SINGAPORE, Feb 26, 2009 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) — Vietnam Coffee Association Chairman Luong Van Tu said Friday it cut the output estimate for the 2008-09 crop year to 16 million bags of 60 kilograms each, from a forecast of 17 million bags in early December.

Tu told Dow Jones Newswires that both the quality and quantity of production aren’t as good as expected, now that the harvest nears an end.
Vietnam is the world’s second-largest coffee producer, and the largest exporter of robusta coffee.
